Welcome Message from the MTC President

South Africa MTC President

Dear Prospective Missionaries and Parents,

The South Africa MTC is one of 15 MTCs throughout the world. Missionaries here are supported by an excellent staff, who prepare meals and maintain the complex, and nine very capable and experienced teachers. Mark Mocke, manager of training and operations, has been with the MTC since its inception and oversees the staff. The MTC president is Kenneth D. Reber from Sandy, Utah. We all work together to help you prepare well for your entrance into your mission.

Missionaries stay in the MTC for 12 days. All training is in English. During your stay, you will develop a greater understanding and love for the scriptures. You will greatly increase your love and understanding of the doctrine of Jesus Christ. Your training will be based on the scriptures and the wonderful instruction found in Preach My Gospel. Through your obedience, personal prayer, and study of the scriptures, your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ will grow and your personal testimony of the restored gospel will be enhanced. You will become skilled in teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. As you learn to teach by the Spirit, you will become a mentor and a righteous example for other missionaries. New, eternal friendships will be formed. You will feel the power in the unity of your group, which will strengthen you throughout your time in the field.

While in the MTC you will enjoy weekly visits to the Johannesburg Temple (when available) and weekly devotionals from General Authorities, including the Area Presidency, Area Seventies, and DVD recordings of addresses given by members of the Quorum of the Twelve at the Provo MTC.

Sister Collins and I welcome you to the South Africa Missionary Training Center. We rejoice in your mission call and know that you are embarking on an unparalleled experience. Your family, your parents, and your ancestors rejoice with you in this step. Heavenly Father will bless you as you faithfully prepare.

Looking forward to meeting you in person,

President and Sister Collins
