Welcome Message from the MTC President

Guatemala LDS MTC President

Dear Prospective Missionaries and Parents,

Sister Cox and I are pleased to welcome our missionaries to the Guatemala City Missionary Training Center. We hope your experience in the MTC will build upon your testimony and knowledge of our Savior Jesus Christ and the restored gospel. When you leave the MTC your ability to teach doctrine and principles will be strong, and you will know how obedience to the Lord’s laws and mission rules invites the Holy Spirit which, in turn, testifies of the truthfulness of your teaching.

You will find our services to be the best. Our teachers are men and women with strong testimonies and great teaching ability. They all served as full-time missionaries and bring much knowledge and experience into their classes. Our dining service is top quality—the chef prepares a variety of dishes, most of which will be familiar, but others provide a healthy and tasty introduction to Central American cuisine. Our living facilities are clean and modern, and the gym and sports area is spacious and invigorating. A highlight of each week is our trip to the Guatemala City Temple, just a five-minute walk up the street.

Your pre-mission preparation will enhance your learning experience in the MTC. We suggest you read or re-read the Book of Mormon and chapters 1 and 3 of Preach My Gospel, as well as the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Doing a little Internet research about your mission country will increase your love and appreciation for the culture and the people you will be serving.

As much as we want your MTC experience to be the best, we know that the real joy of missionary work comes as you love, teach, and prepare your investigators for baptism and a life of joy and service in the Lord’s kingdom. As you watch these wonderful converts grow and prepare to receive the ordinances of the temple, you will feel the same kind of satisfaction that Ammon and his brethren felt at the end of their missions.

May the Lord bless you and grant you the joy of service in His kingdom.

President and Sister Cox
