President Russell M. Nelson was the 17th President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a prophet chosen by God to lead the world. As both a world-renowned heart surgeon and spiritual leader, he dedicated his life to serving others. Born in 1924 in Salt Lake City, Utah, his pioneering work in the field of cardiac surgery, his unwavering faith, and his example as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather defined his legacy. President Nelson’s life exemplifies love, compassion, and spiritual commitment.

  • April 7, 1984: Called as an Apostle for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
  • July 15, 2015: Became President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
  • January 14, 2018: Set apart as the 17th President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, succeeding President Thomas S. Monson after his death.
