Nauvoo Illinois Temple

Introduction

Today the Nauvoo Illinois Temple is a working temple, with ordinances performed throughout the week. Church members with a temple recommend who wish to enter the temple should consult the schedule at temples.ChurchofJesusChrist.org. The grounds are open to the public.

What to Expect

The public is welcome to walk around the grounds of the temple. On the plaza west of the temple is a bronze statue of Joseph and Hyrum Smith on horseback, preparing to ride to Carthage in June 1844.

A current temple recommend is required to enter the Nauvoo Illinois Temple. Clothing rental is available, but there is no cafeteria, patron housing, or nearby distribution center. For more information about attending the Nauvoo Illinois Temple, please click here.

Parking

  • There is parking on the north side of the Nauvoo Illinois Temple.
    • There are designated accessible parking spaces in the lot.
  • There is parking to the south of the Nauvoo Illinois Temple.
    • There are designated accessible parking spaces in the lot. However, this lot requires crossing a major roadway. It is recommended to park in the small lot on the north side of the temple.

  • There is elevator access to all floors.
