James W. McConkie III

Elder James W. McConkie III was sustained as a General Authority Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 2, 2022. At the time of his call, he was a stake president. He is currently serving in the Europe Central Area Presidency.

Elder McConkie has served in a number of other Church callings, including full-time missionary in the Czech Prague Mission, ward Young Men president, high councilor, and bishop. With his wife, Laurel, he served as president of the Czech/Slovak Mission from 2013 to 2016.

Elder McConkie received a bachelor of arts degree in history from the University of Utah in 1995. In 1999 he received a juris doctor degree from the George Washington University Law School. He was an attorney/shareholder with Prince Yeates until his call as a mission president in 2013. From 2009 to 2012, he also worked as an adjunct instructor of business law at the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah. At the time of his call as a General Authority, he had been working as an attorney/shareholder with Workman Nydegger. He is a founder and director for the Wallace Toronto Foundation, a non-profit providing assistance in the Czech and Slovak Republics.

James Wilson McConkie III was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on August 27, 1971. He married Laurel Springer in 1995. They are the parents of four children.
