Hugo Montoya

Elder Hugo Montoya was sustained as a General Authority Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 4, 2015. At the time of his call, he had been serving as an Area Seventy and a member of the Fourth Quorum of the Seventy in the Mexico Area. He served in the South America Northwest Area Presidency and in the North America Southeast, and México Area Presidencies. He also served at Church headquarters in several assignments. He is currently serving as a member of the Area Presidency in the Caribbean Area.

Elder Montoya has served in a number of Church callings, including full-time missionary in the México North Mission, bishop, stake president, assistant area auditor, and area auditor for the México Area.

Elder Montoya worked at a family grape vineyard. He worked as an institute teacher for the Church Educational System. He also worked with Xerox from 1996 to 2015. Elder Montoya and his wife were owners of a tortilla shop and several other family businesses.

Hugo Montoya Monroy was born in Fresno, California. He married Maria del Carmen Balvastro in 1983.
