What to Expect at the Church History Museum
Visiting the Church History Museum is a free, family-friendly experience with art and artifacts that tell authentic stories of Latter-day Saint history and faith.
Theexhibits are designed for self-guided exploration, with interactive and immersive elements to engage visitors of all ages. Docents stationed throughout the galleries offer additional informal programs and activities that help bring history to life.
If it’s your first visit, you may like to stop by the front desk for a quick orientation and recommendations based on your time and interests. The main floor exhibit introduces you to the early history of the Church. On the second floor, you will find our children’s exhibit and other temporary exhibits. You may begin anywhere and enjoy meaningful experiences within a short visit or plan to spend 1.5-2 hours seeing all the museum has to offer.

Where to Park:
- Recommended parking is at the
Conference Center parking facility . The entrance is on West Temple by the Conference Center, in the center of the street. Conference Center parking validation is provided at the Church History Museum and is free for museum patrons. This parking lot fills quickly, and parking is not guaranteed. - Please note that the parking lot on the west side of the Church History Museum is currently under construction and not available for public use.
Additional parking options:
- 10-minute parking (On West Temple Street directly in front of the museum.)
- 2-hour metered parking (Limited capacity on West Temple Street in front of the museum. Street parking is free on Saturdays and for those with a disability permit.)
- City Creek Center parking is located one block southeast of the museum and is free for the first 2 hours. For up-to-date rates please visit
citycreekparkingslc.com . The museum does not validate City Creek parking. The west garage (nearest to museum) has entrances onSouth Temple ,West Temple , and100 South . Visitor Guidelines
To ensure that you have an enjoyable experience and that the museum artifacts are protected, we ask you to please keep the following policies in mind:
- No food or drink is allowed in the museum.
- Pets are not allowed. Trained service dogs are welcome.
- Photography is welcome, but no tripods please.
- Please check large bags at the information desk.

The museum store offers a wide array of books by Latter-day Saint authors, as well as jewelry, souvenirs, collectibles, and music for purchase. There is also a wide selection of Latter-day Saint art prints available only through the museum store.
