2026 Global Church History Competition - Europe and Africa

Do you have a great story that members worldwide should know? Share history that hasn’t been heard. Members and friends of the Church in Europe and Africa are encouraged to participate in a competition hosted by the Church History Department.

The Church History Department is sponsoring its second global history competition to support and recognize excellence in Latter-day Saint historical storytelling and research.

The 2026 Global Church History Competition focuses on Europe and Africa and is open to participants in those regions.

Cash prizes, publication, and collaboration opportunities will be awarded for high-quality submissions.

Submissions will be accepted in the following categories:

• Personal and family history narrative

• Local history

• “Rising generation” history project for young adults and youth

• Academic research article

Deadline: JUNE 30, 2026

We welcome students, amateur or independent historians, professional academics, storytellers, people who want to tell their own personal story, people who have received permission to tell other people’s stories, oral historians, university researchers, etc. (see Frequently Asked Questions for more details).

Competitions will be held regionally and judged by a panel of local history experts.
