Nato il 31 maggio 1933 a Princeton, nel New Jersey, ha servito la Chiesa quale rappresentante regionale, membro del Consiglio generale della Scuola Domenicale e vescovo.

Il presidente Eyring è sposato con Kathleen Johnson, e hanno quattro figli e due figlie.

Vita professionale

Domenica 14 gennaio 2018, il presidente Henry B. Eyring è stato sostenuto e messo a parte quale secondo consigliere della Prima Presidenza de La Chiesa di Gesù Cristo dei Santi degli Ultimi Giorni. In precedenza, ha servito come consigliere del presidente Thomas S. Monson dal 2008 al 2018 e del presidente Gordon B. Hinckley dal 2007 al 2008. È stato sostenuto come membro del Quorum dei Dodici Apostoli l’1 aprile 1995. Dall’aprile del 1985 serve in veste di Autorità generale.

Precedentemente aveva servito quale primo consigliere del Vescovato Presiedente dall’aprile 1985 al settembre 1992 e come Commissario della Chiesa per l’educazione dal settembre 1980 all’aprile 1985 e anche dal settembre 1992 al gennaio 2005.

Dal 1971 al 1977, il presidente Eyring è stato presidente del Ricks College di Rexburg, nell’Idaho. Dal 1962 al 1971, è stato membro della facoltà della Graduate School of Business della Stanford University.

Ha un bachelor’sdegree in Fisica conseguito presso la University of Utah, un master e un dottorato in Business administration conseguiti presso la Harvard University.
