Il est marié à Kathleen Johnson et ils ont quatre fils et deux filles.

Vie professionnelle

Le dimanche 14 janvier 2018, Henry B. Eyring a été soutenu et mis à part en tant que deuxième conseiller dans la Première Présidence de l’Église de Jésus-Christ des Saints des Derniers Jours. Avant cela, il a été conseiller de Thomas S. Monson de 2008 à 2018 et de Gordon B. Hinckley de 2007 à 2008. Il a été soutenu en tant que membre du Collège des douze apôtres le 1er avril 1995. Il est Autorité générale depuis avril 1985.

Précédemment, il a été premier conseiller dans l’Épiscopat président d’avril 1985 à septembre 1992 et commissaire du Département d’Éducation de l’Église de septembre 1980 à avril 1985 et de septembre 1992 à janvier 2005.

Il a été président de Ricks College, à Rexburg (Idaho, États-Unis), de 1971 à 1977. Il a enseigné à l’École supérieure de commerce de l’université Stanford de 1962 à 1971.

Il a obtenu une licence de physique de l’université d’Utah, une maîtrise en administration des affaires et un doctorat en administration des affaires de l’université Harvard.
