You don’t need experience to begin. Start with one of these simple steps:
- Use Ordinances Ready. FamilySearch can guide you directly to ancestors or others who may be ready for temple ordinances—no searching required.
- Add what you know to FamilySearch. Enter family information like names, dates, events, photos, or stories. Even small details can lead to new discoveries and help reveal more of your family’s story.
I’ve been called as a temple and family history consultant. What should I do first?
The first thing you will want to do is review the information found on the consultant calling page. Additional calling information is found on FamilySearch.
Then, try out the features on FamilySearch yourself. Look for ways to help those you serve to draw themselves and their ancestors closer to Christ through sacred ordinances.

How do I add family names or photos to FamilySearch?
The simplest way to add family names is with Family Tree. It will show you which individuals are missing in the first few generations and guide you as you add missing information.
To add photos or documents, go to Memories > Gallery and select “Upload.” Then, tag the people so the memories connect to each person’s profile.
