“The doctrine of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints centers on the family. Essential to our doctrine on the family is the temple. The ordinances received there enable us to return as eternal families to the presence of our Heavenly Father.”
The promised blessings of doing temple and family history work include greater understanding of the Savior and His Atonement, increased guidance from the Holy Ghost, and deeper faith in Christ. As you engage in this work, you can also experience joy, protection from temptation, healing of hearts, and stronger connections with family—past, present, and future.

You don’t need experience to begin. Start with one of these simple steps:
The first thing you will want to do is review the information found on the consultant calling page. Additional calling information is found on FamilySearch.
Then, try out the features on FamilySearch yourself. Look for ways to help those you serve to draw themselves and their ancestors closer to Christ through sacred ordinances.
It’s easy to find the location nearest to you on the FamilySearch website.
The simplest way to add family names is with Family Tree. It will show you which individuals are missing in the first few generations and guide you as you add missing information.
To add photos or documents, go to Memories > Gallery and select “Upload.” Then, tag the people so the memories connect to each person’s profile.
Learn the important role that temple and family history plays in God’s work of salvation and exaltation.
