Calvin and Sally Pendleton Home and Schoolhouse

Exterior of Pendleton Home

Introduction

The Calvin and Sally Pendleton Home and Schoolhouse is an additional Main Street Trades experience. Calvin once listed his occupation as a schoolteacher in Nauvoo, but he was also a clerk, gunsmith, and doctor. As he and Sally worked together to make a living, they, like so many other Latter-day Saints, also placed great importance on education.

What to Expect

The Pendleton Home and Schoolhouse is a two-room guided tour of the family living area and schoolroom. In the schoolroom, a missionary often gives a demonstration of what children in Nauvoo would have learned in class. After visiting the Pendleton Home and Schoolhouse, you are free to explore the rest of Nauvoo.
