Early in His earthly ministry, Jesus gave what came to be known as “the Sermon on the Mount” (see Matthew 5–7).
This sermon lays out the basics of living a Christlike life. It explains that there’s more to righteousness than just following the rules in the law of Moses. He taught a higher law—requiring more commitment but also promising great eternal reward.
Naturally, the Savior wanted those in the Americas to learn these important truths too. So He gave a very similar sermon to them when He visited the Americas after His Resurrection. Today He asks us to share truth with all people. The gospel of Jesus Christ is for everyone!
