Gospel Living

Sometimes virtue isn’t popular.

But you are never truly alone.

OK, here’s the honest truth. Making the right choice can be lonely at times! Some people will respect your standards and others won’t.

If you ever feel alone because of the virtuous decisions you make, know that you are in good company. You’re in the company of

  • the Savior, who taught unpopular truths;
  • the Spirit, who can comfort and strengthen us.
  • prophets like Joseph Smith, who were willing to die for the gospel; and
  • countless other Christians who have walked the solitary path of discipleship.

Here’s a song to remind you that we are with you. Stay strong! You got this.

Staying Strong

Read about Abish (see Alma 19:16–17) and Moroni (see Moroni 1:3). What other scripture heroes were faithful, even if it meant being alone?

“Lonely”

You made your choice;
It’s set in stone.
You told yourself that this is the life you’ll choose.
And you’ll follow Him
Every day and night.
And when you’re out of breath, He will carry you.
But it isn’t always easy, it isn’t.
Even though you love the truth you’ve been given,
It’s a solitary life that you’re livin’ sometimes.

(Chorus)
When you turn toward the light
There are those who say goodbye,
‘Cause it’s not where they wanna go.
But if you keep Him in your heart,
He will be there where you are.
So when you feel like you’re alone,
You don’t have to be lonely. (Oh, oh, oh, oh)
You don’t have to be lonely. (Oh, oh, oh)

You know the way.
He laid it out.
You understand the risks that you need to take.
And with every mile
He is by your side.
He is the fire that will light the way,
But it isn’t always easy, it isn’t.
Even though you love the truth you’ve been given,
It’s a solitary life that you’re livin’ sometimes.

(Chorus x3)
