This printing press was used to publish the first 5,000 copies of the Book of Mormon. It’s called the Smith Patented Improved Press, and it was set up at the E. B. Grandin print shop. The press now stands on display in the Church History Museum as part of the exhibit “The Heavens Are Opened.”1
Below is what the first edition looked like. The print order was completed in March 1830, making next month the 194th birthday of the first printing of the Book of Mormon!
