Louis: Trust in the Lord
Gospel Living

Louis trusted the Lord when his stuff got stolen.

His story is part of a series about this year’s theme.

“The beginning of the year was tough for me. I was dealing with a lot of change, and it seemed like I just couldn’t stay focused on God. I wrestled with feelings of discouragement often, but I also looked forward to FSY.

“Before attending, I made some major changes to my habits. I started studying the scriptures with the intent to learn and implement something, watching talks to heed the counsel of prophets and apostles, and taking time away from things that weren’t helping me get closer to God so I could put that time toward things that did. It was not easy, but I really wanted to be spiritually prepared.

“The day before I would leave, my car got broken into, and my items I had packed for FSY were stolen. I was upset and distraught, and I was about to ask God, ‘Why? Why, when I’ve put in all this effort?’ Then I was reminded of the story of Job. His trust in the Lord inspired me.

“I trusted the Lord that all would be well. Even though I would not get my belongings back, I knew that I could press on with hope that things would get better. And they did! Going to FSY helped me become more of the disciple of Christ I desire to be!”
