Let’s get to know Elder Patrick Kearon!

He spoke at the recent general conference.

Elder Kearon was ordained a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles in December.

And a few weeks ago, at general conference, we had the chance to sustain him and hear him speak for the first time as an Apostle!

Do you remember his talk? (He was the one with the awesome English accent!)

He spoke about how Heavenly Father wants each one of us to return to Him.

“Christ’s great Atoning gift removes every roadblock of physical and spiritual death that would separate us from our eternal home,” Elder Kearon testified.

What else do we know about Elder Kearon? Here are a few fun facts.

  • He has two middle names! His full name is Patrick Robert David Kearon.
  • He was born in Carlisle, England. His father was born in Ireland, so Elder Kearon has both British and Irish citizenship.
  • The last Englishman called as an Apostle was Elder James E. Talmage, back in 1913!
  • Elder Kearon spent some of his childhood living in Saudi Arabia.
  • He was baptized a member of the Church on Christmas Eve in 1987, when he was 26 years old. He’s the first adult convert to be an Apostle since Elder Charles W. Penrose in 1904.
  • He and his wife, Jennifer Hulme, have four children (one of whom died in infancy).
  • Elder Kearon worked in communications and had his own public affairs consulting company.

Before being called as an Apostle, Elder Kearon spoke in general conference three times as a member of the Seventy. His messages have focused on love and healing. Scroll down to find links if you want to check them out.

We love you, Elder Kearon!
