A few Apostles today were once presidents of Brigham Young University campuses—including Elder David A. Bednar! He was president of BYU–Idaho from 1997 to 2004. Here are some other fun facts about him.
Elder Bednar:
- Helped his family can fruit as a boy—perhaps eating more fruit than what ended up in the jars!
- Served as a missionary in southern Germany.
- Met his wife, Susan, at a flag football game where she impressively caught his long pass. They have three sons.
- Was called to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles in October 2004.
- Spoke about the Lord’s tender mercies as a new General Authority, prompting many Church members to look for those blessings in their own lives.1
