Tis the Season of Giving
Too many of us let Christmas become a commercialized holiday. Let’s try to keep the Christ in Christmas this year. We keep Christ in Christmas when we give the gifts that He wants us to give. Consider giving time, love, service, or even a simple smile to those you know and meet. You can even be as bold as the little boy in the video below who selflessly gives something he values and needs to another who needs it more.
When we make it a season of giving by serving and loving those around us, we offer a gift to Christ. In Matthew 25:40 He says, “Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” Christ doesn’t ask us to spend every penny we have to share the Christmas spirit. He simply asks us to give of ourselves — our time, our kindness, our companionship, our talents, and our love.
Nothing is more meaningful or heartfelt than giving the gift of oneself. Celebrate the season of giving and echo the reason for Christ’s miraculous birth by offering others what Christ wants us to. As you go about this season of giving, keep your spirits up with the warmth and joy of Christmas music. Listen to your favorite Christmas songs — without the commercials — while you bake sugar cookies for your neighbors or as you drive to visit someone you know in the hospital.
