Have You Done Any Good in the World Today?

    November 25, 2015

One of the greatest ways to show your gratitude to Heavenly Father is to serve His children—especially those who cannot help themselves. We know from the scriptures that “when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God” (Mosiah 2:17). President Monson shares his thoughts on the importance of giving back to those around us in a touching Mormon Message.

He says, “We are the Lord’s hands here upon the earth to serve and to lift His children.”

President Monson echoes the themes of the hymn “Have I Done Any Good?” as a guide to help people understand how they can serve others in both big and small ways.

    Here are some ideas:

    • Smile at a stranger.
    • Visit someone without any family nearby.
    • Help a family member or friend with a chore.
    • Look for local ways to serve at
    • Ask your bishop how you can help those in your area who are less fortunate, especially during the holidays.
    • Pray for guidance to know where and how to serve.

Whatever you do, remember that the Lord deeply appreciates any act of sincere service that you give to His children. And as President Monson reminds us, “That service to which all of us have been called is the service of Jesus Christ.”
