This is the traditional month of showing gratitude. While we always need to express thanks to God for our many blessings, the month of November is a wonderful time to reflect on the past year and all of the good and challenging things that have happened in your life.
In this video from Mormon Channel, President Monson encourages us all to adopt “an attitude of gratitude”—a grateful way of life—rather than just a once-a-year routine of expressing thanks.
He also said that “sincerely giving thanks not only helps us recognize our blessings, but it also unlocks the doors of heaven and helps us feel God’s love.”
Constantly being grateful and prayerful, both in November and throughout the year, allows us to more fully recognize what the Lord has done and continues to do for us. It can strengthen our love for and our bond with Him. It also helps us to recognize and appreciate future blessings that we might normally overlook. We can suddenly realize how wonderful the entire world and everything on it is when we see through a lens of gratitude.
How do you reflect and give thanks? What traditions does your family have for this time of year? We’d love to hear your ideas and suggestions in the comments!
