    Conversations: Elder Quentin L. Cook

    November 6, 2015

In this touching episode of Conversationswe hear from Elder Quentin L. Cook of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and his wife, Mary. They are wonderful examples of faith, love, and happiness and share with us the experiences that shaped them into the people they are today.

Elder and Sister Cook talk about their family life growing up and how they gained and developed their testimonies of the gospel. Elder Cook’s testimony came as his older brother was deciding to go on a mission. Elder Cook also discusses his mission in the British Mission, meeting Elder Holland, and later becoming his companion.

Elder and Sister Cook share how they met and fell in love and what it was like raising their family in San Francisco. He also discusses his decision to become a lawyer and then how he ended up as the CEO of a healthcare system, all while the Lord was preparing him for the calling of General Authority.

Elder Cook played an important role in bringing about Preach My Gospel, the missionary guidebook. He gives us some insight on how it came about and the wonderfully inspired book that it is.

Elder and Sister Cook have such great love for one another and for Jesus Christ. They encourage listeners to find joy in this life through the gospel because it is full of faith, not fear. They advise to do all that you can to keep the Spirit with you, no matter what comes your way.
