The fourth temple recommend question has three parts:
- “Do you sustain the President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as the prophet, seer, and revelator and as the only person on the earth authorized to exercise all priesthood keys?”
- “Do you sustain the members of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles as prophets, seers, and revelators?”
- “Do you sustain the other General Authorities and local leaders of the Church?”
All three parts have a word in common: sustain.
We are sometimes asked to “sustain” someone in sacrament meeting or general conference. But it involves much more than just raising our right hand! When you sustain someone, it means that you support them, listen to their counsel, and help them when you can.
This interview question is a chance for you to declare that you support your Church leaders—with your heart as well as your hands.
