Joseph Smith took this verse to heart.

Do you?

Did you see the news that President M. Russell Ballard passed away Nov. 12? His most recent conference talk was a strong testimony of Joseph Smith. So it seems extra appropriate that this week in “Come, Follow Me” we are studying scriptures that played a role in the Restoration!

For example, here’s one we focused on this week:

Scripture of the Day: “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” (James 1:5)

This is a famous scripture for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It’s part of our origin story! As a teenager, Joseph Smith read this verse while pondering which church to join, and felt inspired to do what it says—to ask God.

The rest, as they say, is history. The video above tells the story.

James 1:5 applies to you, too, of course. It may not be necessary for God to answer you in as direct and world-changing a way as He did Joseph. But He will answer.

Learning to Listen

Ask a faithful parent or leader how they learned to listen to the Lord’s voice as they grew up. What helped?
