After finishing the Passover meal, Jesus walked to a garden called Gethsemane. Peter, James, and John went with Him into this grove of olive trees. As they waited nearby, Jesus fell down and prayed.
It wasn’t a normal prayer. In a way we don’t quite understand, our Savior began feeling every one of our pains and sicknesses. He agreed to pay the eternal price of our sins. This was the beginning of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, which is the most important event that ever happened!
Then Judas showed up with soldiers. He had betrayed the Savior for a handful of money. Jesus was arrested and condemned to die on a cross, where His Atonement would continue.
Note: This is part of a series about the week leading up to the Savior’s Resurrection.
