01/15/23 | 1 min read

John came “to bear witness of the Light,” “the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world” (John 1:7, 9). “Light proceedeth forth from the presence of God … [and] giveth life to all things” (Doctrine and Covenants 88:12–13).

How does light bless us? See Alma 19:6; 36:20; Doctrine and Covenants 88:67.

What is light related to? See Doctrine and Covenants 84:45.

How do we grow in light? See Doctrine and Covenants 93:28.

Who is the Light of the World? See John 8:12; 3 Nephi 18:16, 24.

President Lorenzo Snow (1814–1901) taught, “We believe that the spirit which enlightens the human family proceeds from the presence of the Almighty, that it spreads throughout all space, that it is the light and life of all things, and that every honest heart possesses it in proportion to his virtue, integrity, and his desire to know the truth and do good to his fellow men” (The Teachings of Lorenzo Snow, ed. Clyde J. Williams [1996], 107).

Discussion

How can you follow the Savior’s teaching, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven”? (Matthew 5:16).
