Here’s Corgan’s testimony of peace.

Did you notice that several general conference talks earlier this month were about finding peace even when life is challenging?

For example, President Eyring said, “The Savior knows that all of Heavenly Father’s children yearn for peace, and He said that He could give it to us.”1

Corgan understands the idea of feeling peace during hard times. A couple of years ago, he was at a temple visitors’ center when his family heard that a huge fire was near their home! They prayed that their friends and other family members would be safe.

“We desperately had to trust in the Lord,” Corgan said. “It gave me peace and comfort to know that if we trusted Him, we could be OK, no matter what happened.”

Corgan’s family was lucky—the wind calmed down and firefighters were able to control the fire. But nearby towns were wiped out. People quickly began trying to help those who lost everything. Corgan felt peace knowing that the Lord would bless them.

“I could feel the Lord’s love for me and all of His children,” Corgan said. “Trusting in the Lord’s love is something incredible. Put yourself in His hands, and many blessings will come to you.”

President Eyring shared five truths about feeling peace:

  1. Peace is given after we have faith to keep God’s commandments.
  2. The Holy Ghost, who is the Comforter, can abide with us if we are faithful.
  3. Being faithful enables us to feel the love of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.
  4. Keeping the commandments is about more than obedience—it’s about loving God with all our might.
  5. The Atonement of Jesus Christ is what makes eternal peace possible.

What other themes did you notice from general conference?

Seeking Peace

What’s something you can do now to invite greater peace into your life? What might help you hold on to that peace when challenges arise?
