Forgiving yourself and others isn’t always easy.

But it is always possible!

Elder Peter F. Meurs once fell asleep while driving, causing a car accident that injured his family members and others.1

Danny was a young man who struggled with drug addiction.

Alma the Younger was a rebellious young man who felt guilty for trying to destroy the church.

Elder Meurs couldn’t forgive himself. Danny didn’t know if he could be forgiven. And according to Alma the Younger, “the very thought of coming into the presence of my God did rack my soul with inexpressible horror” (Alma 36:13–14).

A car crash.

Addiction.

Rebellion.

What do all these things have in common?

Each situation felt unforgivable. Like there was no way to move forward.

But because of Jesus Christ, every one of these people could move forward with hope. Because of Jesus Christ, their stories continued.

After struggling for years to forgive himself, Elder Meurs learned that the Savior’s healing power could apply to him. Danny, like Alma the Younger, turned to Jesus Christ for forgiveness and found joy in repentance.

As Elder K. Brett Nattress testified in general conference, “Please know there is always hope, there is always healing, and there is always a way back.”2

Because of His Atonement, the divine help of Jesus Christ is available to you. Always.
