Have you ever heard someone describe themselves as a “born-again Christian”? Usually this means that the person has had a moment of intense conversion when they decided to follow Jesus Christ. Some Protestant groups, for example, especially value this experience and identify with that term.
The phrase comes from the Bible, when the Savior taught a man named Nicodemus that we must be “born again ... of water and the spirit” in order to enter the kingdom of heaven (John 3: 3–5).
