Take the Liahona, for example!

One night, the Lord told Lehi that in the morning, he was to take his family and head out into the wilderness (see 1 Nephi 16:9). How he would know which direction to travel? What was his destination? How would he get there?

The next morning, Lehi stepped outside his tent and, “to his great astonishment,” found “a round ball of curious workmanship” sitting there. This ball, or compass, “pointed the way whither [he] should go into the wilderness” (1 Nephi 16:10).

We don’t know what Lehi had been expecting as far as guidance from the Lord—but a miraculous brass compass ball?! That was a new form of divine communication!

Among other lessons, this incident is a reminder of a wonderful fact: God has a lot more ideas than we do. When it comes to solving problems, He has solutions that we’ve never imagined. We should keep that in mind whenever we encounter a problem that seems impossible to fix. Just because we mortals can’t think of the answer doesn’t mean there’s not one!

God will always help us keep His commandments. He has ways of helping us that we’ve never dreamed of! Trust Him.
