Seminary Registration Instructions for Seminary Personnel, Priesthood Leaders, and Parents of Seminary Students

What You Need to Know

  1. The Seminary Registration Agreement is a legal requirement. Parents are required to consent to it only once during the time their child or children are in seminary.
  2. When parents or guardians sign or agree to the consent, they legally agree to allow Seminaries and Institutes of Religion (S&I) to track their child’s or children’s seminary progress using WISE.
  3. Consent to the Release to Use Image (RUI) agreement is optional. If parents choose to not consent to the RUI, seminary registration cannot be completed electronically. Parents or guardians must contact the local seminary program to complete registration.
  4. Parents who are not members of the Church will also complete registration with the local seminary program after they have secured a Church Account at account.ChurchofJesusChrist.org
  5. Potential seminary students are youth ages 14–18 who will be in the 9th–12th grade (or equivalent) during the 2020–21 school year. Exceptions are made for students with disabilities.
  6. Seminary registration invites parents to select or update the following:
    • Graduation year(s) for the child or children participating in seminary
    • Building location where the child or children will be participating in seminary
    • Contact information for the parents
  7. Seminary students can update their personal contact information online at myseminary.ChurchofJesusChrist.org.
  8. When and where possible, we invite all parents and guardians to use myseminary.ChurchofJesusChrist.org or the S&I app to register their child or children for seminary and to then monitor student progress through the program.

Instructions for Seminary Personnel

What You Need to Do

  • Raise awareness of the mySeminary site and the S&I app so that parents can register their child or children and monitor student progress through seminary.
  • Parents who are not members of the Church and parents who do not consent to the RUI cannot use mySeminary or the S&I app to complete registration for their child or children. They will be asked to contact the local seminary program, where seminary personnel will use WISE to complete registration for these students.
    1. Please be sure to add records access for nonmember parents in the “Guardian” tab in WISE.
    2. Please mark “No” (N) for those who do not consent to the RUI.
    3. Be sure to mark the basic agreement under the “Parent Agreement” bar in each student’s ID page in WISE.
    4. Be sure to update parent or guardian contact information.

Instructions for Priesthood Leaders

What You Need to Do

Raise awareness of the mySeminary site and the S&I app so that parents can register their child or children and monitor student progress through seminary.

There is not a priesthood view of mySeminary on the S&I app. Leaders should use myseminary.ChurchofJesusChrist.org to monitor their youth’s progress in seminary.

In Northern Hemisphere programs, beginning January 1, mySeminary becomes a registration tool for the next school year. For example, on January 1, 2020, mySeminary will begin to show who is or is not registered for the 2020–21 year. In Southern Hemisphere programs, mySeminary becomes a registration tool on July 1 for the following calendar or school year.

Leaders cannot consent to the Seminary Registration Agreement. This is reserved only for parents or guardians.

Leaders are encouraged to mark the graduation year and building location for each student. Leaders can also mark students who are too young, who are too old, or who will not be participating in seminary for whatever reason the following year.

Instructions for Parents of Seminary Students

What You Need to Do

  1. Be sure that you have a Church Account. To create one, go to account.ChurchofJesusChrist.org.
  2. Using that Church Account username and password, log in to myseminary.ChurchofJesusChrist.org or log in to the S&I app.
  3. Once logged in to the site, you will see youth who are 13–18 years old listed on the left-hand side of the page under “My Family.” If you are also a stake or ward priesthood leader (including stake seminary supervisors in some areas), the stake or ward you currently serve in your calling will be listed under “My Stake” or “My Ward,” directly beneath “My Family.”

Parents Who Are Not Members of the Church and Are Registering Their Child for the First Time

  • Please contact your local seminary program to complete seminary registration. Be prepared to provide your Church Account username. They will not need your password.
  • A copy of the Seminary Registration Agreement can also be printed, completed, and returned to the local seminary program. [Registration Form]
  • After your child has been registered, you will be able to monitor his or her progress at myseminary.ChurchofJesusChrist.org or on the S&I app.

Parents of All Upcoming Ninth-Grade Students

    • Parents who do not consent to the RUI cannot use mySeminary or the S&I app to complete registration for their child or children. If you do not consent to the RUI, you will be asked to contact the local seminary program, where seminary personnel will help you to complete registration for your child or children.

  • Contact your local seminary program if you have any questions.
