Quarterly Report

Policy and Principles

“Every ward completes and submits a Quarterly Report to Church headquarters. All attendance and ministering interviews are recorded in Member Tools or LCR. This information automatically completes the corresponding portions of the Quarterly Report. The clerk reviews the report with the bishop and submits it before the 15th of the month following the end of each quarter.

The stake presidency may review the Quarterly Report submitted by each ward. This will help them monitor progress and know where support and instruction are needed. Stake council members may also view each Quarterly Report” (General Handbook: Serving in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 33.5.1.3).

Indicators of Conversion and Church Growth

A section titled “Indicators of Conversion and Church Growth” is included in the Quarterly Report, and it provides information on the following:

  • Members who are sealed to their spouse in the temple
  • Endowed members with a current temple recommend
  • Young men ordained to the Aaronic Priesthood at the appropriate age
  • Males ages 18–25 who are serving or who have served full-time missions
  • Adult males holding the Melchizedek Priesthood and prospective elders ordained to the Melchizedek Priesthood
  • Sacrament meeting attendance
  • Converts baptized and confirmed in the last 12 months
  • Adults and youth who have submitted ancestor names for temple ordinances

All of the information in this section is provided automatically from Church headquarters. This section also includes the percentages relating to the information above from one year ago and five years ago to help leaders monitor trends.

Every number and statistic in the Quarterly Report represents an individual member who has unique needs. Leaders should seek direction from the Lord as they consider who may need their help and what help to provide.

Information from these reports is especially important for the bishopric and ward council to use in tracking the progress of ward members and deciding how to strengthen the faith of individuals and families.

Sacrament Meeting Attendance

To record sacrament meeting attendance, use the “Sacrament Meeting Attendance” screen in Leader and Clerk Resources (LCR) or Member Tools. The Quarterly Report will automatically be updated with the information entered using the sacrament meeting attendance tool. Attendance at sacrament meeting is recorded each week by the ward clerk or an assistant ward clerk. The count is the number attending the meeting in-person or by streaming, including visitors. Ward members who are not present because they have another assignment or are attending another ward are counted in the ward they attend.

Quorum, Class, and Primary Attendance

To record class and quorum attendance, use the “Class and Quorum Attendance” screen in LCR or Member Tools. The Quarterly Report will automatically be updated with the information entered using the class and quorum attendance tool. Attendance is recorded each week by quorum and organization secretaries and advisers. Youth leaders may also assist in recording attendance. The count is the number attending the meeting in-person or by streaming, including visitors. Members who are serving in the Primary or as youth leaders within the ward are also included as attending. Members who are attending another ward are counted in the ward they attend.

Ministering

Elders quorum and Relief Society presidencies keep a record of the interviews they hold with ministering brothers and sisters. Leaders indicate the month interviews are held and who participated in them. They report a companionship as interviewed if at least one member of the companionship is interviewed during the quarter.
