Fabric Descriptions and Care

The fabric you choose may greatly affect your comfort. Each fabric has characteristics and properties to meet varied needs and preferences. Here is an overview; not all fabrics and styles will be available in each area.

Carinessa

Carinessa is a mediumweight (119 gsm) 91% polyester and 9% spandex fabric. This creates a comfortable, stretchy fabric that allows the garment to stay in place while stretching with the wearer. It easily conforms to individual body styles. Outer clothing glides over Carinessa easily. Because Carinessa is a synthetic fabric that fits snugly, it is not recommended for women who are prone to infections.

Care:  Machine wash cold, delicate, with like colors only. No fabric softener. Use non-chlorine bleach as needed. Tumble dry low.

Corban

Corban is a lightweight (61 gsm), dull-finish, 100% nylon fabric. Corban has a smooth feel and is a good choice for men who prefer a garment that is almost frictionless under outer clothing. Corban is a durable nylon fabric that does not stretch. Some find it to feel warm.

Care:  Machine wash warm. Non-chlorine bleach as needed. Tumble dry medium, permanent press.

Cotton-Poly

Cotton-Poly is a heavyweight (153-197gsm) 60% cotton and 40% polyester fabric. This fabric has a cotton feel, absorbs moisture well, and retains its shape. This all-weather fabric works well for those who prefer a cotton-feel garment that lasts longer than Stretch Cotton.

Care: Machine wash warm, permanent press. Non-chlorine bleach as needed. Tumble dry medium, permanent press.

100% Cotton

100% Cotton is mediumweight (125 gsm), breathes well, and absorbs moisture but does not dry quickly. This fabric is recommended for those who want a natural fiber garment for any preference or need—including medical and work-related.

Care: Machine wash cool, permanent press. Non-chlorine bleach as needed. Tumble dry medium, normal.

DriSilque

DriSilque (pronounced “dry silk”) is a lightweight (51 gsm), 100% nylon fabric. It dries very quickly and has a silky feel. Garments made from DriSilque are more comfortable and last longer if the fit is fairly loose. DriSilque fabric has very little stretch and, because it is synthetic, is not recommended for women prone to infections.

Care: Machine wash cool, gentle. Non-chlorine bleach as needed. Tumble dry low, delicate.

Nylon Mesh

Nylon Mesh is a lightweight (61 gsm), 100% nylon fabric. It has an open-weave construction that makes it a comfortable fabric for many, including those in humid climates. This mesh fabric allows for easy evaporation and dries quickly. Like other nylon fabrics, it reduces friction with outer clothing and is quite durable. As a synthetic fabric, it is not recommended for women prone to infections.

Care: Machine wash warm, permanent press. Non-chlorine bleach as needed. Tumble dry low, normal.

Stretch Cotton

Stretch Cotton is a mediumweight (150 gsm), soft, stretchy, 95% cotton and 5% spandex fabric. It promotes comfort and breathability and absorbs moisture well. Stretch Cotton garments include mesh panels on the sides of the tops and the insides of the legs that are 95% polyester and 5% spandex. Polyester dries quickly, and the small holes of the mesh increase breathability and coolness. This fabric prioritizes comfort over durability and will not last as long as other garment types.

Care: Machine wash cold, delicate, or hand wash. Use non-chlorine bleach when needed. Tumble dry low and remove promptly, or hang to dry. Do not iron or dry clean.

Thermal

Thermal is a mediumweight (150 gsm) 90% polyester and 10% spandex fabric. Thermal garments are only made in long-sleeve tops and ankle-length bottoms and are recommended as a base layer for cold-weather exposure.

Care: Machine wash warm, permanent press. Non-chlorine bleach as needed. Tumble dry medium, permanent press.
