Serving as an area technology specialist (ATS) is generally a full-time missionary opportunity. ATSs promote technology self-reliance in stakes and districts by working with local leaders to call and train stake, district, and assistant technology specialists. They assist local units in leveraging technology to bring souls to Christ.
Assignments may include supporting area leadership, facilities management groups, or missions with additional technology needs. ATSs are expected to have a knowledge of computers, printers, copiers, scanners, wired and wireless networks, and audiovisual equipment. Though English fluency is sufficient in some areas, many locations require fluency in an additional language.

As you consider this opportunity, keep in mind that candidates should have a technical background, though in the case of senior couples, both husband and wife need not be highly technical.
