Members can upload photos of themselves and their families. These photos, however, are not viewable to other ward and stake members until they have been approved by ward administrator such as your ward clerk.
Ward administrators do not receive an e-mail notification about new photos awaiting approval. Ward administrators must regularly check the New Photos section in the directory.
Data Privacy Laws
As an administrator for your ward directory, you can upload photos for any individual and household.
Note that data privacy laws vary by country. In the European Union, for example, you cannot upload a photo of a member without his or her voluntary, informed consent. This means the person must not feel any pressure to provide a photo, and that they understand their photo will be used in a ward directory including the LDS.org online directory. As the person uploading content to the directory, you must make sure you have received voluntary, informed consent from each person (or their parent or legal guardian) in the photograph.
When possible, members should be encouraged to upload their own photos to the directory. Outside the United States and Canada, unit leaders should not bulk upload photos to the directory unless they are helping a specific family upload photos for their household.
If you have obtained photos for members that you want to upload to the directory, and you have their informed, voluntary consent to add their photos to the directory, you can do so using the Upload Photos option. For minors, you will need the informed, voluntary consent of their parent or legal guardian.
Approve a New Photo
In the left sidebar, click New Photos. This section shows all photos that have been uploaded but not yet approved.
Verify that the photos match the member names.
Click the green check mark next to the photo.
The photo is approved and disappears from the list of New Photos.
Upload Photo on Behalf of a Member
Click Upload Photos in the left navigation bar. (Tip: If you don't see the Upload Photos option, then according to your calling as listed in MLS/LCR, you are not a ward administrator. Contact your ward clerk for assistance.)
Read the Upload Guidelines, and then click Continue.
Drop or Select the photos you wish to upload. To delete a photo you just uploaded, click on the trash can.
Click on the Assign link to assign each photo to an individual or household.
A popup appears. For individual photos, drag and resize the circle template to be on the face of the individual. For household photos, drag and resize the rectangular template to best show the household. Click on the Search box and type to find the individual or household. Click on Save.
No approval step is needed for photos uploaded by an administrator.
Edit Member Assignments for Photos
The manage photos section allows an administrator to view all assigned photos in the selected unit. This page can be helpful if a photo was incorrectly assigned to the wrong member.
Locate the photo that needs to be changed.
Click in the name box and type in the name of the household or individual in the photo.
Select the correct name.
Click the green check mark.
Delete a Photo
To delete a photo from the system, from Manage Photos, click the red X under a photo.
