A Book about Me

To make a book about yourself, you will need: 6 pieces of white paper and 1 piece of colored construction paper, each 8 1/2″ x 11″ (21.6 cm x 28 cm); 3′ (.9 m) length of yarn or narrow ribbon; scissors; glue; crayons; and/or colored markers and pencils.

  1. Neatly stack the papers with the colored one on the bottom. Fold the papers in half with the colored piece on the top and bottom (see illustration).

  2. Wrap the yarn or ribbon around the fold and tie a bow on the outside of the book (see illustration).

  3. Cut out the title, A Book about Me, on this page; glue it on the book cover and write your name in the white box.

  4. Some things that could be included in your book: a self-portrait or photograph of yourself, including age, height, weight; a drawing of a birthday cake with your birth date and birthplace; outlines of your hand and foot; a drawing of your home, including address and telephone number; drawings of family members and pets, including their names; your testimony of the Church; things about Primary; pages showing special events, learned skills, or vacations, etc. (See also “My Book of Remembrance,” pages 16–17.) Just use your imagination! Note: If you run out of pages, just remove the yarn or ribbon, add more folded white paper to the center of your book, and put the yarn or ribbon back on, and tie a new bow. Or, make A Book about Me, volume 2!
