Can I bring food and drink into the visitors’ center or the historic homes?
Food and drink are not allowed indoors. Baby bottles and water bottles with closable lids are allowed inside the historic homes.
Can I bring my service animal to Historic Nauvoo?
Trained service animals are allowed wherever a person can go at our historic sites, including in historic homes.
Can I bring my emotional support, comfort, or companion animal to Historic Nauvoo?
Emotional support, comfort, or companion animals are not allowed at Historic Nauvoo.
Can I bring my pet to Historic Nauvoo?
Pets are not allowed at Historic Nauvoo. Pets on leashes are welcome at the nearby Nauvoo State Park. Check their website for details.
Do you have a coat or bag check?
There is no coat or bag check at Historic Nauvoo.
Do you have a map or guide?
We currently do not have a PDF map available online. Digital maps of the various tours are available here. Brochures and digital orientation tables are also available on-site at the visitors’ center and the Hyde Home.
I’m coming with a group of 25+ people. What do I need to know?
If you’re coming with a large group, you will need to complete the Group Reservation Request for Illinois Historic Sites. A missionary will contact you to follow up and finalize your reservation. Please be aware that we are not able to arrange lodging, food, or transportation. Visit the Group Visits Pagefor more information.
I’m coming with kids. What should I know?

How do I take a wagon or carriage ride?
From Memorial Day to Labor Day, tickets are required to take a wagon or carriage ride. Free tickets are available at 7:00 a.m. central time the day of the ride. They can be reserved by visiting Historic Nauvoo’s Eventbrite page. Please be aware that there is a limit of five tickets per email address.
Can I take photos?
We encourage still photography at Historic Nauvoo! If you post your photos on Facebook, please tag us @historicnauvoo.
Can I film or record?
Filming or recording is not allowed during guided tours, demonstrations, or performances.
