Guidelines for Displaying Signs Outside Church Meetinghouses
In the weeks leading up to Easter and Christmas, consider whether displaying large signs outside your meetinghouse would be an effective way to invite the community to worship with us on these religious holidays. You may Download pre-made designs and customize them to add your local worship times. Leaders should use local unit funds to print and display these signs.
Please consider the following as you print and install the banners:
- Do not attach signs to the meetinghouse.
- Do not attach signs in a way that causes permanent damage to structures (fences, posts, etc.)
- Consider local signage ordinances as applicable.
- Ensure the sign can be easily read by a passerby. The farther away from the street the sign is placed, the larger the sign will need to be.
- Local printing agencies may be able to help with determining the appropriate size for where the sign will be placed.
- Maximum sign size should be 2.5 feet x 7 feet (0.76 meters x 2.13 meters).
- Please ensure that your signs meet local and government standards and regulations.
- The banners should not be displayed on temple properties, even if the temple shares space or fences with a meetinghouse.
To ensure displaying signage outside meetinghouses is not overused, please reserve these types of communications for only Easter and Christmas.
