The youth in Central and South America arrived in impressive numbers, hungry to hear the word of God during President Russell M. Nelson’s Latin America ministry tour.

Taking notes and listening intently, the youth have left an impression on the prophet, Sister Wendy Nelson, and Elder Quentin L. Cook of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

“They are just so spectacular,” said President Nelson in a new Church News video. “They’re lifting themselves up above the mediocrity. We’re real thrilled to be with them.”

Watch this Church News video to see what President Russell M. Nelson, Sister Wendy Nelson, and Elder Quentin L. Cook of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles thought of the youth they met during their Latin America ministry tour.

Sister Nelson added that the youth are taking all the necessary steps to have a firm foundation in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

“They are absolutely anchored,” she said. “They’re doing it. They’re having family home evening, they’re in the scriptures, they’re receiving their patriarchal blessings and finding great joy.”

Elder Cook also spoke of what it’s like looking at the youth from his perspective during the devotionals he’s attended throughout the tour.

“I wish that you could be sitting where I am and see all of the faces . . . light up like Christmas trees,” he said.

President Nelson noted that the youth’s excitement is for their Savior, Jesus Christ.

“The work is not about us,” he said. “The adulation is not for us. It’s for the Lord.”
