Five years have passed since President Thomas S. Monson announced the construction of the Star Valley Wyoming Temple (October 1, 2011). A year and a half has passed since the ground was broken (April 25, 2015).

This week, the completed temple opens to the public from Friday, September 23, through Saturday, October 8, 2016—with the exception of September 24, September 25, October 1, and October 2.

Free tickets for the open house are available at tickets.ChurchofJesusChrist.org.

At 17,000 square feet, the Star Valley Wyoming Temple is the first in Wyoming and will serve members in the west part of the state—those who have been traveling 1.5 hours to the Idaho Falls and Rexburg Idaho Temples. It will be located east of U.S. Highway 89 on the Haderlie Farm property south of Afton.

The temple’s dedication will begin with a cultural celebration on Saturday, October 29. The celebration will feature music and dance performances by local LDS youth.

On Sunday, October 30, the temple’s dedication will be broadcast in three sessions: 9:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m. Members with current temple recommends will be able to view these broadcasts in Church meetinghouses in the Star Valley Wyoming Temple district and in all other stakes and districts in Wyoming (except those in the Fort Collins Colorado Temple district). Three-hour block meetings will be cancelled that day so that members can participate.

Photos of the completed temple—including the baptistry, celestial room, sealing room, brides’ room, and the temple's unique, blue-tinted steeple window—are below.
