Chapters of Volume 2 of Saints: The Story of the Church of Jesus Christ in the Latter Days, subtitled “No Unhallowed Hand,” will be made available monthly beginning June 20, 2019, leading up to its full release in February 2020.

The first eight chapters of volume 2 of Saints: The Story of the Church of Jesus Christ in the Latter Days—subtitled “No Unhallowed Hand”—are being made available early through magazine and online serialization prior to the volume’s scheduled February 2020 print release.

Chapter 1 became available on June 20 in the Gospel Library app, at saints.ChurchofJesusChrist.org, and will appear online in the July 2019 magazines in 47 languages. An excerpt of the first chapter will also be in the July 2019 print issues of the Ensign and Liahona magazines.

Subsequent chapters will be released monthly through February 2020 in 47 languages, when the entire volume will be made available in print and digitally in 14 languages.

Volume 2 of Saints: The Story of the Church of Jesus Christ in the Latter Days narrates Church history from 1846–1893.

Covering Church history from 1846 through 1893, volume 2 narrates the Saints’ expulsion from Nauvoo, their challenges in gathering to the western United States, and their efforts to settle Utah's Wasatch Front. It concludes with the dedication of the Salt Lake Temple.

Matthew J. Grow, managing director of the Church History Department and a general editor of Saints, said he is excited for the release of volume 2 and, based on the reception of volume 1, anticipates it to be a resource members will enjoy and appreciate.

“We have been thrilled with the way volume 1 has been received by Latter-day Saints all over the world,” he said. “We’ve received a lot of really positive feedback from readers, and we’ve been astonished by how widely it is being read—both in print and online.”
