Youth worldwide are invited to share on social media how they are growing like Christ, using #StrivetoBe.

The invitation from President Dallin H. Oaks, First Counselor in the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is a prelude to a Face to Face event for youth on February 23, which is being described as a follow-up on the Children and Youth program that started this year.

In a newly released video, President Oaks and his wife, Sister Kristen Oaks, invite Latter-day Saint youth from around the world to join them Sunday, February 23, 2020, at 4:00 p.m. mountain standard time.

“We hope that many of you will join us as we discuss how to implement our new program for youth to grow to be more like Jesus Christ,” said President Oaks in the video. “We want you to know that you can do this.”

Referencing the 2020 youth theme, taken from 1 Nephi 3:7, Sister Oaks says in the video that just as Nephi sought to “go and do” as the Lord commanded him, “as you strive to grow more like the Savior, we know the Lord will help you as well.”

“We love the youth of the Church and know that the Lord has great confidence in them,” President Oaks said in a released statement. “That is why He is inspiring the leaders of His Church to give them more opportunities for leadership and growth than ever before. They are being invited to lead their quorums and classes and to participate more fully in gathering scattered Israel.”

President Oaks said the Face to Face event will include stories and experiences from youth who are participating in the new youth program and making it work for them.

In the meantime, President Oaks asked youth to “share what you are doing to grow as the Savior did” on social media using #StrivetoBe. Youth can also post questions about Children and Youth on Face2Face.ChurchofJesusChrist.org.

Youth can view the event by satellite broadcast in local meetinghouses or online at Face2Face.ChurchofJesusChrist.org.
