New Temple Presidents Called to Serve in Ukraine, Alaska, and Bolivia Temples

Six new temple presidents and matrons have been called by the First Presidency.

Cochabamba Bolivia Temple

Luis García Dávila, 68, Sarco Ward, Cochabamba Bolivia Cobija Stake, called as president of the Cochabamba Bolivia Temple, succeeding President Jay E. Jensen. President García’s wife, María del Rosario Villarroel Ayala de García, will serve as temple matron, succeeding Sister Lona Jensen. Brother García serves as the first counselor in the Cochabamba Bolivia Temple presidency. He has served as a second counselor in that temple’s presidency, stake president, bishop, branch president, mission presidency counselor, and high councilor. A retired coordinator for the Church Educational System, he was born in Cochabamba, Cercado, Bolivia, to José Lisimaco García Encinas and Angela Dávila Mariscal.

Sister García serves as an assistant to the matron of the Cochabamba Bolivia Temple. She has served in a stake Relief Society presidency, as stake and ward Primary president, and as ward Relief Society president. She was born in Cochabamba, Bolivia, to Alejandro Villarroel Panoso and María Teresa Ayala Loza.

Gilbert Arizona Temple

Alyn Michael McClure, 68, Ranch Ward, Queen Creek Arizona Stake, called as president of the Gilbert Arizona Temple, succeeding President David E. LeSueur. President McClure’s wife, Brenda Barney McClure, will serve as temple matron, succeeding Sister Nancy L. LeSueur. Brother McClure serves as a stake president. He has served as bishop, branch president, and elders quorum president. A dairy veterinarian/partner, he was born in San Fernando, California, to Elmer Leland and Mamie Irene Leak McClure.

Sister McClure serves as a temple ordinance worker. She has served in stake Young Women and Primary presidencies and as ward Relief Society president, branch Young Women presidency counselor, and ward Primary president. She was born in Mesa, Arizona, to Newell A. and Katherine Mecham Barney.

Anchorage Alaska Temple

Melvin Roy Nichols, 68, Klatt Ward, Anchorage Alaska Stake, called as president of the Anchorage Alaska Temple, succeeding President Dennis E. Cook. President Nichols’s wife, Sharon Lynn Malott Nichols, will serve as temple matron, succeeding Sister Olga B. Cook. Brother Nichols serves as a ward missionary and temple ordinance worker. He has served as president of the India Bangalore Mission, stake president, bishop, and high councilor. Retired vice president of DOWL Engineers, he was born in Bellingham, Washington, to Billy Richard and Marian Sadie Nichols.

Sister Nichols serves as a ward missionary and temple ordinance worker. She served with her husband as he presided over the India Bangalore Mission and has served as stake family history consultant, ward Relief Society president, Gospel Doctrine teacher, and seminary teacher. She was born in Ogden, Utah, to Odie Ray Malott Sr. and Dorothy Louise Malott.

Curitiba Brazil Temple

Joaquim Lourenço de Oliveira, 61, Barigui Ward, Curitiba Brazil Iguaçu Stake, called as president of the Curitiba Brazil Temple, succeeding President Sidney S. Camargo. President de Oliveira’s wife, Arabela Caseiro Lemes Lourenço de Oliveria, will serve as temple matron, succeeding Sister Marisa F. Camargo. Brother Oliveria serves as first counselor in the Curitiba Brazil Temple presidency. He has served as stake president, bishop, district presidency counselor, mission presidency counselor, and high councilor. Retired from the Church Educational System as a seminaries and institutes coordinator, he was born in Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo, Brazil, to Joaquim Lourenço and Carmen Garcia de Oliveira.

Sister de Oliveira serves as an assistant to the matron at the Curitiba Brazil Temple. She has served as stake Relief Society president, stake and ward Young Women president, stake family history center director, and in a ward Primary presidency. She was born in Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil, to Vitor Azevedo and Laurinda do Nascimento Caseiro Lemes.

Kyiv Ukraine Temple

Gerold Roth, 66, Neumarkt am Wallersee Ward, Salzburg Austria Stake, called as president of the Kyiv Ukraine Temple, succeeding President Frank V. Trythall. President Roth’s wife, Gertraud Schmidinger Roth, will serve as temple matron, succeeding Sister Nancy L. Trythall. He serves as a stake high councilor. He has served as an Area Seventy, president of the Bulgaria Sofia Mission, stake president, district president, bishop, branch president, and high councilor. A retired real estate developer, he was born in Lochen, Oberösterreich, Austria, to Josef Franz Helmut and Gertrud Roth.

Sister Roth serves as a Primary activity day leader. She served with her husband as he presided over the Bulgaria Sofia Mission and has served as stake Relief Society, Young Women, and Primary president; ward Relief Society president; and branch Young Women and Primary president. She was born in Schwarzach Im Pongau, Salzburg, Austria, to Josef Judwig and Margarete Peterka Schmidinger.

Panama City Panama Temple

William Halbert Wingo, 68, Quitman Ward, Searcy Arkansas Stake, called as president of the Panama City Panama Temple, succeeding President Hugo Boren. President Wingo’s wife, Ester Joy Nelson Wingo, will serve as temple matron, succeeding Sister Camille Boren. Brother Wingo serves as a high priests group secretary. He has served as president of the Mexico Monterrey North Mission, bishop, high councilor, assistant stake executive secretary, and high priests group leader assistant. Partner with Davis Miles McGuire Gardner, PLLC, he was born in El Paso, Texas, to Edward Mehaffey and Ivis Farnsworth Wingo.

Sister Wingo is a Sunday School teacher. She served with her husband as he presided over the Mexico Monterrey North Mission. She has also served in stake and ward Relief Society presidencies and as ward Relief Society president. She was born in Rexburg, Idaho, to Lester John and Hazel Winona Nelson.
