New Temple Presidents Called to Serve in Honduras, Japan, Missouri, and Peru

The Tegucigalpa Honduras Temple.

The First Presidency has called the following four new temple presidents and matrons. They will begin their service in November 2018.

Tegucigalpa Honduras Temple

Rosario T. and Rodolfo Díaz

Rodolfo Díaz Ortiz, 66, Bella Vista Ward, Danli Honduras Stake, called as president of the Tegucigalpa Honduras Temple, succeeding President Luis G. Duarte. President Díaz’s wife, Rosario del Carmen Tilguant de Díaz, will serve as temple matron, succeeding Sister Gladys E. Zeitun de Duarte. He is a former Tegucigalpa Honduras Temple presidency counselor, stake president, bishop, patriarch, and branch president. Retired chief of forest protection, he was born in Cuyalí, El Paraiso, Honduras, to Armando Díaz Méndez and Josefina Ortiz Vendel.

Sister Díaz is a former assistant to the matron of the Tegucigalpa Honduras Temple, ward Young Women and Primary president, and a stake temple and family history consultant. She was born in San Marcos de Colón, Choluteca, Honduras, to Francisco Mata and Aminda Tiguant.

Fukuoka Japan Temple

Chikako I. and Katsuyuki Otahara

Katsuyuki Otahara, 69, Atsubetsu Ward, Sapporo Japan Stake, called as president of the Fukuoka Japan Temple, succeeding President Kouzou Tashiro. President Otahara’s wife, Chikako Ibata Otahara, will serve as temple matron, succeeding Sister Akiko Tashiro. He is an Area Seventy and temple ordinance worker, and a former stake president, bishop, and high councilor. Retired coordinator for the Church Educational System, he was born in Hokkaido, Japan, to Tadayoshi and Chiyo Komine Otahara.

Sister Otahara is seminary supervisor and temple ordinance worker and a former ward Relief Society president and counselor, ward Primary president, and seminary teacher. She was born in Hokkaido, Japan, to Hiroshi and Mie Masaki Ibata.

St. Louis Missouri Temple

Jane Darger and Matthew Thomas

Matthew Anthony Thomas, 65, Frontenac Ward, St. Louis Missouri Stake, called as president of the St. Louis Missouri Temple, succeeding President Terry R. Clegg. President Thomas’s wife, Jane Darger Thomas, will serve as temple matron, succeeding Sister Melodee L. Clegg. He is a patriarch and temple sealer and a former stake president, bishop, and welfare regional chairman. A vitreo-retinal surgeon, he was born in Salt Lake City to Madison Hayball and Phebe Marian Thomas.

Sister Thomas is a Young Women adviser and temple ordinance worker and a former stake Relief Society presidency counselor, stake and ward Young Women president, and ward Relief Society president. She was born in Salt Lake City to Stanford Parley and Arlene Barlow Darger.

Trujillo Peru Temple

Carlos A. and Raquel M. Pérez

Carlos Atilio Pérez Basso, 68, Montevideo 13th Ward, Montevideo Uruguay North Stake, called as president of the Trujillo Peru Temple, succeeding President Rómolo J. Casós. President Pérez’s wife, Raquel Beatriz Massia de Pérez, will serve as temple matron, succeeding Sister Marlene M. Casós. He is a patriarch and temple sealer and a former Area Seventy, Peru Lima North Mission president, stake president, and bishop. Retired assistant to a property agent, he was born in Montevideo, Uruguay, to Julio Federico Pérez Esposito and Lidia Blanca Basso Berchot.

Sister Pérez is Sunday School teacher and temple ordinance worker. She served with her husband as he presided over the Peru Lima North Mission and is a former stake and ward Relief Society president, ward Young Women president, and ward Primary presidency counselor. She was born in Montevideo, Uruguay, to Juan Pedro Massia Brito and Elvira Elena Paro Bertola.
