New Sunday School General Presidency Called during April 2019 General Conference

President Dallin H. Oaks of the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced a new Sunday School General Presidency to replace Brother Tad R. Callister, Brother Devin G. Durrant, and Brother Brian K. Ashton, who have served as a presidency for five years.
Brother Mark L. Pace is the new president, with Brother Milton Camargo and Brother Jan E. Newman as his counselors.
Members of the Sunday School General Presidency advise on matters concerning Sunday School. All members of the Church age 12 and older are encouraged to participate in Sunday School classes, which are held twice a month as part of the regular weekly worship services. Its purposes are to teach the gospel of Jesus Christ and strengthen individuals and families.

Brother Mark L. Pace, Sunday School General President
Mark L. Pace was serving as an Area Seventy and a member of the Fifth Quorum of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when he was called as Sunday School General President in April 2019.
Brother Pace earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Utah in 1980 and a master’s of business administration from Harvard Business School in 1982. He worked in commercial real estate development for the Boyer Company from 1984 until 2012. He began working for Gardner Company in real estate development in 2015.
Brother Pace has served in many Church callings, including elders quorum president, Scoutmaster, bishopric counselor, ward Young Men president, high councilor, bishop, and counselor in a stake presidency. As a young man, he served as a full-time missionary in the Spain Madrid Mission. From 2012 to 2015 he served as president of the Spain Barcelona Mission.
Brother Pace was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on January 1, 1957. He married Anne Marie Langeland in 1978. They are the parents of seven children and 17 grandchildren.
Brother Milton Camargo
Brother Milton Carmago, First Counselor in the Sunday School General Presidency.
Milton Camargo was called in April 2019 as the First Counselor in the Sunday School General Presidency.
Brother Camargo served as an Area Seventy in the Europe Area from 2006 to 2010 in the Third Quorum of the Seventy. He also served as an Area Seventy in the Brazil Area from 2010 to 2013 in the Seventh Quorum of the Seventy. He has served in a variety of Church positions at the congregational level, including bishop, stake mission president, and elders quorum president.
As a young man, Brother Camargo served as a full-time missionary in the Church’s Portugal Lisbon Mission. From 1997 to 2000 he served as president of the Brazil Porto Alegre South Mission, and from 2002 to 2005 he served in the presidency of the Brazil Missionary Training Center.
Brother Camargo earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Instituto Militar De Engenharia and a master's of business administration from Brigham Young University. He currently works as vice president of curriculum at BYU–Pathway Worldwide.
He and his wife, Patricia, are the parents of three children and 13 grandchildren.
Brother Jan E. Newman

Jan E. Newman was serving as a stake president when he was called in April 2019 as the Second Counselor in the Sunday School General Presidency.
Brother Newman earned a bachelor’s degree in French from Brigham Young University. He has worked in the software industry in Utah for over 30 years. He is a serial entrepreneur and has founded several successful software companies. He is currently a partner at SageCreek Partners, a technology consulting company in Utah.
Brother Newman has served in a variety of Church positions, including bishop, stake president, Scoutmaster, ward Young Men president, and temple worker. As a young man, Brother Newman served a full-time mission in the Belgium Brussels Mission. From 2006 to 2009 he served as president of the Nebraska Omaha Mission.
Brother Newman and his wife, Lucia, are the parents of six children and eight grandchildren.
