On Sunday, December 4, 2011, members of the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints spoke at a Christmas devotional, broadcast from the Conference Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, to millions around the world.

President Thomas S. Monson presided at the devotional. Christmas is what we make of it, he said.

“A wise Christian once urged, ‘Let us not spend Christmas … but let us keep Christmas in our hearts and in our lives,’” he said. “This is my plea tonight, because when we keep the spirit of Christmas, we keep the spirit of Christ, for the Christmas spirit is the Christ spirit.”

President Henry B. Eyring, First Counselor, quoted much of the Christmas story from the scriptures and then announced a new Church website, BibleVideos.ChurchofJesusChrist.org. Read more about BibleVideos.ChurchofJesusChrist.org.

Relating his experience accidentally setting fire to the living room drapes in his home one Christmas, President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, Second Counselor, emphasized the need for contentment. “This is a wonderful time of year,” he said. “It may not be perfect. But if Christmas can point our hearts toward our Savior, we can rejoice even in the imperfections of the season.”
