Church to Discontinue Newsletter on ChurchofJesusChrist.org in February 2017
- The Church is discontinuing the ward and stake Newsletter and Lesson Schedule functions on ChurchofJesusChrist.org.
The Church has announced that the Newsletter tool (ChurchofJesusChrist.org/member-news) on ChurchofJesusChrist.org that allows local leaders to post a newsletter for members of their wards and stakes to read online will be discontinued on February 28, 2017.
According to a December 14 email sent to bishops and stake presidents of units that had used the Newsletter function in the past two years, the Church is retiring Newsletter because of low usage, outdated technology, and widely available alternatives that units can use to distribute newsletters.
Wards and stakes that have used the ChurchofJesusChrist.org Newsletter to distribute information to members should make plans to use other means, such as printed newsletters, information in Sunday bulletins, email, or online programs. Seeinternet.ChurchofJesusChrist.org for guidelines for using online resources in Church callings.
Church units should retrieve from the Newsletter any information they would like to keep by February 15, 2017. If they don’t already have a copy of what has been posted, they may:
Download text by highlighting and copying it into a word processing document.
Download images by right-clicking and saving them.
Download attachments by clicking the download icon to the right of the names of attachments.
Those who have questions or problems are invited to go to the Newsletter section at ChurchofJesusChrist.org/member-news and click the “Do You Have Feedback about This page?” icon at the bottom of the page. Any feedback submitted by February 28, 2017, will be monitored and replied to.
