Weatherford T. Clayton

Elder Weatherford T. Clayton was sustained as a General Authority Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 2, 2016. He was released and granted emeritus status on October 1, 2022.

Personal Life

William Weatherford Touchstone Clayton was born in Los Angeles, California, on March 1, 1952. He married his sweetheart, Lisa Thomas, in 1976. They have five children.

Elder Clayton received a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a medical degree from the University of Utah.

He has served in a number of Church callings, including full-time missionary in the French Canadian Mission, bishop, stake president, ward mission leader, and stake president. At the time of his call, he was serving as president of the Canada Toronto Mission.

Professional Life

He served at Church headquarters in Salt Lake City, Utah, as an assistant executive director in the Missionary Department. He also served as the chairman of Missionary Health Services. He was released and granted emeritus status on October 1, 2022.
