Lloyd D. Newell, announcer for Music and the Spoken Word, will narrate the program.
The choir is a two-time winner of the Freedoms Foundation Award—once in 1980 for its Fourth of July broadcast, and again in 1988 for contribution to promoting patriotic pride in America. The choir also received a George Washington Medal from the Freedoms Foundation in 1998 for its July Fourth special. These awards recognize individuals and entities across America who celebrate American heritage and who promote responsible, engaged citizenship.
The concert will not be broadcast but is free and open to the public. No tickets are required for general admission.
