Free Temple Square Summer Events Open to All
- May 4 – August 31, 2012
For four months each year, Temple Square resounds with the sounds and energy of summer concerts, recitals, dramatic productions, and other cultural arts events.
Most summertime events in and around Temple Square are free of charge, but some require tickets. Many of the events occurring in various Temple Square venues such as the Assembly Hall and Tabernacle begin at 7:30 p.m.
The summertime Concerts in the Park series, held at Brigham Young Park (100 N. State Street), will kick off on June 1 with a 17-piece swing band and vocalists creating a big-band sound. Concerts in the Park performers range from western and jazz music to a cappella groups and Irish jig-performing singers.
The series will contain 26 performances, held on Tuesday and Friday evenings through August 31. There will be no concert on July 20 due to the Pioneer Day concert in the Conference Center, which requires tickets (visit ChurchofJesusChrist.org/events).
The concert series began in 1996 and has been very successful. Some concerts have attracted more than 3,000 attendees. Several hundred lawn chairs are set up in the park for each concert, but attendees are welcome to bring their own chairs or blankets.
